tumblerd segfault every time it tries to load video thumbnail

video thumbnails cause tumblerd to crash (mp4, webm) but mkv works, didn't try any other type of video, all images work

system:
debian 13

Re: tumblerd segfault every time it tries to load video thumbnail

Tumbler uses gstreamer for video thumbs I believe.

apt depends tumbler
tumbler
  Depends: tumbler-common (= 4.20.1-1)
  Depends: libc6 (>= 2.34)
  Depends: libcairo2 (>= 1.2.4)
  Depends: libfreetype6 (>= 2.2.1)
  Depends: libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0 (>= 2.22.0)
  Depends: libglib2.0-0t64 (>= 2.68.0)
  Depends: libgstreamer-plugins-base1.0-0 (>= 1.0.0)
  Depends: libgstreamer1.0-0 (>= 1.4.0)
  Depends: libjpeg62-turbo (>= 1.3.1)
  Depends: libpng16-16t64 (>= 1.6.46)
  Depends: libpoppler-glib8t64 (>= 0.85.0)
  Depends: libtumbler-1-0t64 (>= 4.17.2)
  Depends: libxfce4util7 (>= 4.17.1)
  Suggests: tumbler-plugins-extra

Re: tumblerd segfault every time it tries to load video thumbnail

I have tumbler and gstreamer installed as far as I know and I get no video thumbnails. This is something I wanted. How do I check everything needed is installed?

Re: tumblerd segfault every time it tries to load video thumbnail

Use your package manager to check if everything is installed.

What distro are you running?

Added later 03 min 10 s:
It might be "tumbler-plugins-extra".

Added later 07 min 52 s:

This package adds the following plugins to tumbler:
  - Cover thumbnailer for movies
  - FFMpeg/Libav thumbnailer for video files
  - OpenDocument Format thumbnailer
  - Raw Digital Camera Images thumbnailer.
