"focus follows mouse" changes to "click to focus"

I normally have my focus set to "focus follows mouse" (lazy focus), but I've noticed that it sometimes gets changed to "click to focus", and I'm not sure how. This isn't a serious problem since it's easy to switch back in Window Manager, but I wondered if anyhow knows how or why this might happen.

This probably happens several times a year, so it took me a while to convince myself that this was real. The first few times, my reaction was "That's really weird, I wonder I changed that without realizing it.", or "Huh, I wonder if the recent system update changed that?" But, it just happened today, and I haven't done a system update in a while.

Thoughts?
