Want to continue using Xfce - having an easier time with Plasma fonts

I have used Xfce for 15 years, for all of which time, it has performed flawlessly. I have never experienced an issue using it, that was DE-related. Hardware - yes. User error - same. But Xfce itself has been unbelievably stable, even for the past five years on my office workstation running Connectwise sessions, Xfreerdp to a Windows VM, Office 365 emails on Betterbird.
But 15 years in, my eyes appreciate the fonts and clarity of Plasma very much - this post is currently being typed in a Neon session. Several live session uses of various Plasma spins have left an overall impression of the DE of meh, except for visuals - the readability of everything is really superb, across the board. I've been experimenting with different fonts and themes in Xfce, but haven't been able to achieve comparable results.
I know that Xfce is currently developing a Wayland compositor to (eventually) replace X11. Will this new compositor improve font clarity and rendering? Is there something else I can do to bring this experience to Xfce? I've read that using the KWin display manager with Xfce is doable - has anyone done this and found it to be worthwhile?
Thank you.

Re: Want to continue using Xfce - having an easier time with Plasma fonts

How are the fonts configured on Plasma vs the font configurations on Xfce? Are they the same? Are you using the same font with the same hinting?

What does the following return when running under each of the two environments?

fc-match -v sans-serif | grep -E "antialias|hintstyle|rgba|lcdfilter"

Xfce font settings are in the /Xft and /Gtk xfconf settings (xsettings channel). You can view them through the Settings Editor app. Not sure where KDE/plasma stores its font configuration settings.
