I am trying to setup a system like Manjaro XFCE, but using Trisquel.
Unfortunately the fairly important emoji program, gnome-characters, appears broken in latest Trisquel (12.0 Ecne KDE). I'm not able to signup to the Trisquel forums because their systems are too strict and block signup attempts from ppl who protect their privacy. I've put this in General Discussion because its not an Xfce issue.
The issue seems to be the same as what is mentioned in this bug report from 2013, but no responses exist there, maybe I'll have better luck here
The output on my system :
(org.gnome.Characters:123123): Gtk-WARNING **: 17:35:23.000: No IM module matching GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus found
(org.gnome.Characters:123123): Adwaita-WARNING **: 17:35:23.002: AdwNavigationPage 0x123abcdef456 is missing a title. To hide a header bar title, consider using AdwHeaderBar:show-title instead.
Gjs-Message: 17:35:23.042: JS LOG: Characters Application activated
Segmentation faultHere's hoping we can get to the bottom of this issue once and for all.
EDIT: One thing I forgot to mention. I have tried uninstalling (purging) a bunch of dependencies and gnome-characters itself and re-installing, because some search results noted success after that, but it didn't work in this case.
EDIT: I've downloaded the source files to HOPEFULLY re-build it on the system. So if anyone knows of specific pitfalls on that, pls share.

No LLM was used in the production of this post
Privacy is a human right... I use Tor Browser in Safest Mode to block js, and dragged NoScript addon back into the toolbar to enable js on worthy sites. I add uBlock so it matches Tails' fingerprint.
