thunar root usage

I used to type sudo thunar to reach root with thunar so I could see hidden files but it didnt work today

It's likely because your using a terminal application to call a graphical one. Better to use pkexec thunar.

You don't need to be root to view hidden files. From the menu top right select View>>Show Hidden Files. Or Ctl-h to toggle.
