Hasn't been patched or updated in over 4 years
Isn't in the repos for Debian Trixie
Is it still a thing?

Yes, its still an active project. Commit history is here (https://gitlab.xfce.org/apps/xfdashboar … its/master). Although there have been some minor housekeeping patches, there has not been any major work since August of last year.

This is probably more of a Debian question than an Xfce question.

As far as I can see the Debian repos don't provide Xfdashboard. You could put in a package request through the bug report system.
You may find a .deb from another Debian based distro such as Ubuntu but no guarantee it will work properly or at all. Building it is also an option and maybe creating a .deb. The dependencies shouldn't be a problem.
But it's all right, when you're all in pain and you feel the rain come down
It's alright, when you find your way, then you see it disappear
It's alright....

I installed it from source but the libs didn't install. Not sure what to do about that.

Installing from source will not bring in dependencies. They must be install manually with apt get. Same goes for building, you need to manually install the tools and the header files(dev).

I checked Synaptic and libxfdashbaord isn't in there. No idea how to get it
