Re: Disable Tooltips

Bump.

I'd like to know how to disable tooltips on the panels.  They're driving me nuts.

Re: Disable Tooltips

There are low level methods for it, but I can't find any info on disabling the tooltip for the panel. I'm guessing it isn't possible. (yet?)

Re: Disable Tooltips

*revives*

I really don't need to see tooltips like 'Click to switch to "Workspace x"'. They don't help, they just obscure the parts of the panel I actually want to see.
Is there a way to selectively turn off tooltips for different panel applets in XFCE 4.6?

Re: Disable Tooltips

To get ride of tooltips, put that line in your .gtkrc ( or in your theme )

gtk-enable-tooltips = 0

/!\ it will disable ALL tooltips in ALL applications.

I know that is not a 'real' solution but tooltips just irritate me , so ...

Re: Disable Tooltips

Have you tried tresh's solution yet? It should work. The only thing is that you should write this line in a file called .gtkrc-2.0 (in your home directory) instead of .gtkrc
Note that, as tresh already said, it disables all tooltips in all GTK applications.

Re: Disable Tooltips

Looks like it worked. Thank you. I was testing it by pointing at wpa_gui in the system tray, but apparently this one app doesn't respect the settings. All others now behave as they should.
