howto allow xfce to manage desktop by default?

i am using xubuntu, but i installed both the gnome-desktop and kubuntu-desktop to try, but i have been using xfce exclusively.  however, every time i log in, i have to go to the menu, desktop settings, and click the 'allow xfce to manage desktop' checkbox before the desktop comes up.  How do i make this the default behavior?

thanks

ryan

Start xfdesktop and when you logout save your session.
If you use nautilus you will have to stop it taking over the desktop in gconf.

gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /apps/nautilus/preferences/show_desktop false

Thanks, TomE.
That solved my problem with gnome desktop icons showing up on my xfce desktop.
