Desktop icons don't refresh automatically [solved]
I've just installed xfce4.4 RC1. When I add or manipulate files on the Desktop, the Desktop doesn't refresh with the changes. I have to click on the Desktop and press F5, and then they appear.

Did you compile thunar with fam/gamin support?

I'm running the Thunar that compiles along with the Xfce4.4RC1 graphical installer. At every opportunity I installed whatever optional packages were suggested, but I didn't come across fam/gamin. I'll look into it.
In a possibly related problem, every time I empty the trash the desktop clears of icons. When I check my Desktop settings, the checkbox for "Allow Xfce to manage the desktop" is unchecked. When I check it again the icons reappear on the desktop. This bug occurs every single time I empty the trash.

Recompiling Thunar with the libgamin-dev package installed worked like a charm. Thanks!
