HI all.
I have a little issue while initializing composite
at first I'am adding this section at the end of xorg.conf
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
Option "RENDER" "Enable"
EndSection
after that, take over # from glx module, and reboot copmuter
after rebooting fglrxinfo shows me that i no longer have ATI, it shows MESA
bash-3.1$ fglrxinfo
Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Mesa project: www.mesa3d.org
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.5)
composite iven if activted wont work (witch is obvious)
try without Renderer....FAILD
try without glx.....FAILD
I have searched the documentation of ATI drivers and found nothing about composite (only somthing about glx...that some options are not supported)
then i have checked if xfwm4 have composite enable
Build configuration and supported features:
- Startup notification support: Yes
- Render support: Yes
- Xrandr support: Yes
- Embedded compositor: Yes
- KDE systray proxy (deprecated): No
finaly i decided to look on xorg.0.log, and found something like this:
(WW) fglrx(0): ***********************************************
(WW) fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed! *
(WW) fglrx(0): * (maybe driver kernel module missing or bad) *
(WW) fglrx(0): * 2D acceleraton available (MMIO) *
(WW) fglrx(0): * no 3D acceleration available *
(WW) fglrx(0): ********************************************* *
I have KateOS (xorg 7.1, xfce 4.3.99.1, kernel 2.6.17.13-kateos), Radeon x550
can somebody help me whit this, or it some kind of drivers general bug??
regards

you have modified Xorg.conf to load the fglrx driver, yes?
you downloaded fglrx 8.29.6 binary and installed, yes?
please read this page for details - 29.6 doesn't support some cards, and 8.24.8 does not install on Xorg 7.0 and above
and you have the kernel module for fglrx present, yes? (looks like it from the Xorg.conf log)
