Blackness and cannot see titles etc..

Hi - I run Debian on a Linkstation NAS  and xfce was fine before I moved the system to "unstable".

Now I'm running unstable though I can't see things like the sound volume slider because its completely black.Display preferences is the same, can't alter anything, and when the 'tips & tricks' starts up that is also black.

I view the screen via vncviewer

Is this a known problem or due to no graphics card

Well - turns out that I can't get rid of the blackness as described, but I can get the text in that menu visable, only with the themes :

Xfce-kolors > very dimmly
Xfce-dawn  > very dimmly
Xfce-dusk   > Just right

I'd put a screenshot up but how can I do that through vncviewer?
