Hi all,
I've installed 4.4 RC2 (from bin installer) on a Slackware 11.0 (but first I've upgraded glib to 2.12.7, instaleed dbus & and dbus-glib -latest ver). Everything it's ok beside the fact I can't see the icons on the desktop (I saw that at least the defaults are present, as files, but I can't really see them on the desktop). What can I do ? I've searched through the forum but the past answers didn't help - I don't want, yet, to try ROX or something like that, as long as XFCE says that NOW supports desktop icons....
Best regards,
Bogdan.

run "xfce-setting-show backdrop" click the "Behavior" tab and select "File/launcher icons" from the drop downbox

Hi Tom,
I've followed you instructions (already tested but not by lunching the app by term, so I did't know that I've done it previously). Bad news - I don't have the "File/launcher icons" from drop-down box. I vahe only "None" and "Minimezed applications icons".
Thanks,
Bogdan.

That means xfdesktop was either compiled without support for desktop icons, or you're using an older version of xfdesktop that had a bug in this regard.

Hi all,
I have compiled the sources for xfdesktop and the options are there. Thanks.
PS : Do you know why in the official release (the bin installer) this options is not compiled ?
Best regards,
Bogdan.
