Unable to detect Xserver

Hello,

I am trying to install XFCE4-4.4.0 on to my Fedora Core 3 system. I don't have KDE, Gnome, etc, all I have is the terminal. I do not have an internet connection. I have downloaded xfce4-4.4.0-installer.run and typed:./xsfce4-4.4.0-installer.run, which resulted with the following:

Unable to connect to the Xserver. This installer requires
X11 to work, please correct the problem and try again.

So I looked on xfce.org and tried:

xhost +localhost

which resulted with the following:

unable to open display ""

How could I correct this problem?

Any help would be most apreciated,
The Godfather

Re: Unable to detect Xserver

Actually you have to start the installer inside X11, so run startx (or start an old Xfce installation, Gnome, Kde whatever) and then run the instaler inside a terminal emulator.
