Seeking for tips & advice for desktop lockdown

Hi all,

I'm working on a concept for some sort of a terminal server project.
Looking through all kinds of window managers i bumped upon xfce4.4 and was amazed with the performance and possibilities.
It looks like a good choice for my means.

The things i'm looking for:
The desktop needs to have a panel and taskbar (like the default), but impossible to change.
The right mouse click menu is impossible to change
Restriction of filemanager (thunar) to leave the ~/ (ok out of the scope of xfce itself)

I allready played around with the kiosk function which are rather basic.
How can I archive this? Especially the restriction to modify the desktop and menu look, feel and configuration?

Tips and advice very welcome!

Thanks

Js

Re: Seeking for tips & advice for desktop lockdown

Have you tried just denying write permissions to user in .config/xfce/panel/ ??
Something like
# chmod ugo-w -R /home/USER/.config/xfce4/panel/
Well, I'm just wondering and can't try now, but will probably work.

Try to set (and check) permissions with Thunar, you can own a file without being able to write to it, Thunar will tell you and correct it.
