vte dependency???

I am running on FC6 and trying to install xfce4.  I did a yum install xfce4* first and it installed a bunch of stuff but no startxfce4.  So I decided I would use the gui installer.  When I run it, it complains that vte is missing.  However, I have the following installed:

libvte-java.i386     0.12.1-5.fc6
vte.i386               0.14.2-1.fc6

So why is the gui installer choking?  System requirements indicate version 0.11.11 or greater so ?????

Any help would be most appreciated.

You need the -dev or -devel version of those packages to compile xfce.
