DEbian etch + graphical installer 4.4.1

I have debian etch with the default xfce ( 4.4rc1) and i want to update to 4.4.1
, so i download the xfce4-4.4.1-installer.run, open and terminal (on x), install all dependencies, and run it as root.
The installar say a have all the needed installed, so click next. I check extensive optimizations, and uncheck ALSA, then i dont modify the installation path (/usr/local), next, next, and the build begin. When it reach 100% it fail doing the make all, so i open the error log, and it say that the mcs manager are missed or something like that. (i am in my job know , so i remenber exactly the error but is about mcs manager)
Anybody knows what the problem? maybe the problem is that i run the installer from a xfce-terminal on my current xfce ?
thnks.
bye

Re: DEbian etch + graphical installer 4.4.1

Most of the time, when it failes at 100%, it is unable to install the uninstaller. But if you want a good answer, post the full warnings/errors from the log.

No, you can overwrite an running application without problems, although it is recommended to restart the X server after updating.

Re: DEbian etch + graphical installer 4.4.1

From what I've seen (and I'm not keeping records or anything) this isa Debian issue, not an XFCE issue.  Refer to this thread http://forum.xfce.org/index.php?topic=3 … 8#msg13838.  Surprised you didn't come across it when you searched before you posted.  :-|
