bootstrap.sh failure??????

ok I have xubuntu 6.06 I installed all the packages listed for debian and when I run the the gui install script- xfc4-4.1-installer.run  (from a root term) I get this error= p.s I'm fairly new at this, I don't know what most of this says but I can't find a bootstrap.sh file anywhere on my system either :?

It looks like you don't have gcc installed.

thats grat so gcc is the c+ compiler right? what else is'nt on the list that i need? I also have a new problem with xfce that came with xubuntu- I lost my panels and I can't figure out how to get them back I think i killed them by mistake
got panel back found where the program lives but no menu I'm gonna keep looking for that

gcc is the c ompiler, g++ is the c+ compiler ^-^. The Xfce menus are provided by xfdesktop, so starting xfdesktop will bring your desktop menu back and rightclick the panel -> add -> menu will give you the panel menu.
