hello!
i run Gentoo; when i install something (say, Firefox) a bunch of directories around the filesystem get modified (as with most *NIX distros.)
where would the icon for the application be? is there a *NIX convention here? i mean, i can type:
which firefox
and get a path to the executable, but that's not going to help with the icon.
the correct way to customize an icon would be to specify the default path for that icon in the program launcher, right?
thanks,
ry

Not sure about Gentoo, but in debian a lot of system and theme icons are in /usr/share/pixmaps - but I don't know of a good way to find a specific icon except digging for it.
current environment: Xubuntu 7.04/Xfce 4.4.0
also playing around with: 7.10/4.4.1

Not sure where firefox is installed on your system, but search for a firefox.desktop or mozilla-firefox.desktop file. In that file there will be a Icon=... line, which points to an icon name/location.
