Default browser

Hi guys,
I downloaded FF3 for linux, untarred it into a work directory then ran it.
When started, it prompts the request to become the default browser. I cliked yes then went on to "test" the new browser.
It picked the FF2 configuration files and everything seemed ok.
Then I removed FF3 and returned to FF2.
Everything was ok, but from that moment if I click on a link on thunderbird firefox doesn't take action.
I asked for help in FF forums and I was told to set the default browser. I tried via "Xfce Settings Manager -> Preferred Applications" but without success.
I looked inside some Xfce file, but didn't find any reference.

Can you help me?

Thank you in advance
