Mission of Xfce?

About some time ago I chanaged my DE from KDE to Xfce and now enjoy it.
My question is mostly for developers of Xfce: what is mission of Xfce? Is  it  to make only basic light DE (windowmanager+panel+file manager+configurator) or to make as many applications (video/audio players, editors,web browser and so on) as possible (KDE/Gnome way)?

I've been using xfce for a few months and I don't know what the official mission is but for me it seems to just let users go with the flow. If you want a minimal desktop, xfce can do that. If you want an over the top desktop, xfce can do that.

I just want to write that xfce really works for me. I just spent a week building up a new machine, and installing KDE4. It still looks bad so I learned all about fonts, trying to make it look better. I installed gnome because I needed it to compare.

And yesterday I loaded Xfce4 and this thing just works. My fonts look good, my apps are all found, I have desktop effects, and the applets rock. Love it.

I really like Xfce because it contains just the core stuff; KDE is too big to play in the sandbox sometimes and Gnome feels kinda clunky.

Xfce is sweet and I'm eager to learn all about it.
