I can't for the life of me find this in the wiki or the Xubuntu desktop guide. :? I want to configure Xfce4 so that the window buttons in the taskbar (panel) only show the icon, rather than icon+window title. This is to save space on the panel. I am sure there is a way - I just can't find it :-(
Thanks for your indulgence...

(sigh) And how do I find this "task list" in order to right-click it?

sorry for digging out this one.
but apparently this feature is gone since 4.6
will it be reimplemented?

Bumping this old one again. Since the feature is missing from Xfce 4.6, is there another way to get the Task List to show icons only? By editing a file or something?

In 4.6 there is the Icon Box plugin for this.
In 4.8 you can disable labels in the Window Buttons plugin (tasklist and icon box plugins were merged). To access the window buttons properties you can either right-click the handle/free space, right-click a button while holding Ctrl or use the item editor in the panel preferences.

Thanks for the reply! I am not finding xfce4-iconbox available in the Debian Squeeze repos. In fact, I don't see it at all in Debian.

In 4.6 the icon box plugin is part of the xfce4-panel package.

Thank you very much, Nick! Can't believe that I missed that. Added it to the panel just now.
