Desktop Icons don't works

I am new to Xfce and have used for many Years my Programms and started it from

~/Desktop

This is worked with SuSE, SourceMage, Sorcerer, Slackware, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Gentoo, allways KDE

But now if I witch to start a Application from Xfce I get only the Text with some Applications as

[Desktop Entry]
Categories=GNOME;GTK;Settings;
Comment=Configure key servers and other encryption settings
Comment[sr]=Configure key servers and other encryption settings
Encoding=UTF-8
Exec[$e]=seahorse
GenericName=
GenericName[sr]=
Icon=seahorse-preferences
MimeType=
Name=Seahorse
Name[sr]=Seahorse
Path[$e]=
StartupNotify=true
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
X-DCOP-ServiceType=
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Bugzilla=GNOME
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Component=general
X-GNOME-Bugzilla-Product=seahorse
X-GNOME-DocPath=seahorse/seahorse.xml
X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false
X-KDE-Username=

or

[Desktop Entry]
Comment=
Encoding=UTF-8
Exec[$e]=penguin-command
GenericName=
Icon=penguin
Name=Penguin Command
Path[$e]=
StartupNotify=true
Terminal=0
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
Version=1.0
X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false
X-KDE-Username=

If i wish to adjust the Desktop Entry I have

General is good
Permissions is good
Launcher is unknown

What is this?

I don't have Icons for something Programs and can't adjust this
under Properties.

Is not avaliable to adjust Icons is for Programms?

Perhaps I make a Mistake or is this all unsupported?

I have copied from Appfinder und this Deskop Entry works.

But I have something Desktop Entry which are not founded in Appfinder,
and are not in

/usr/share/applications

Something as special Windows Programms with Wine and other,
which I have manually installed.

Could You help me?

Thanks

Re: Desktop Icons don't works

It should be as simple as dragging/copying from /usr/share/application to ~/Desktop. This is not working for you?

Re: Desktop Icons don't works

This works for usually Applications, which have desktop File.

But for other Applications which I wish to run, this is unusable.

I need mine App especially for Wine and other which I have manually installed.

Why Xfce don't use my ~/Desktop, which have worked in KDE?

Re: Desktop Icons don't works

I had the same issue. I installed Xfce 4.2 from a KDE OpenSUSE 11.1 computer. When I went to delete icons from the Desktop I was told that the directory didn't exist. I check the config and Settings Manager with no help. I then simply copied a program icon directly into the ~/Desktop folder and on next log in I had a fully functional Desktop.
