Assign application to open on Desktop [#]

I'd like to be able to assign a given application to always open it's window on a certain desktop, independent of the desktop on which I am currently focussed.  For example, when I open Firefox, I want it to always open on Desktop 1, and Inkscape on Desktop 2, and OpenOffice.org  on Desktop 3, even if I am on  Desktop 6 when they open.

Is there a way to do this?

Have a look at Devils pie or Wmctrl. Both offer this and more.
