installed Xfce and i like it very much.
Solved some small issues thanks to excellent info on this site.
Now i'm stuck with 1 problem:
Have only very few things installed: base+xorg+Xfce4+Firefox+Gimp.
When i add Abiword also get gnome-icon-theme + icon-naming-utils.
Then some of Xfce4 Panel icons become ugly.
Example: the usual quit (black circle) changes to an ugly green running man.

Have been searching around my system but i do not understand how Xfce4 got to these icons.
Could someone explain how it works ?
note when i boldly remove the gnome-icon-theme the original icons are back
while most of the system seems to work ok. Even abiword.
But i'm not shure that is such a good solution.
Regards,
Henk

Good for Xubuntu:
Did you look in
Applications > Settings > Settings Manager > User Interface > Icon Theme
You can change them there.
Running: Xubuntu-64 / 8.10
and getting 1bit/keystroke

Sorry, my English was not very good so I'll try to explain clearly...
Xfce's Rodent icon theme inherits Tango and Gnome icons. The Action Buttons plugin first tries to load its icons depending on the standard, in this case "system-log-out" and "system-lock-screen", then try to load Xfce one's "xfce-system-exit" and "xfce-system-lock". Rodent don't have the "system-log-out" icon so the plugin load "xfce-system-exit". Since Rodent inherits the Gnome icon theme, when you install it, the plugin uses first the icon "system-log-out" from Gnome.

Wapush, thank you very much, this is really helpful.
Now i understand how it works i have created just a few symlinks
in /usr/share/icons/Rodent/scalable/apps:
applications-multimedia.svg -> xfce-multimedia.svg
system-file-manager.svg -> xfce-filemanager.svg
system-log-out.svg -> xfce-system-exit.svg
user-trash.svg -> xfce-trash-empty.svg
user-trash-full -> xfce-trash-full.svg
And now these icons have come back to their Xfce4 models.
I do not bother much with the other gnome icons, these are quite ok.

Little OT
I found, under a special circumstance, that some icon themes take lots of time to load. Then I use Gimp and should open or save pictures in directories with a couple of thousand pictures it took loooooong time before I could see the files in the file dialog window.
Gnome icons is OK and I stay with them.
