Please, somebody tell me how this is done.

My girlfriend desperately wants me to put xfce on her g4 ibook to get some more speed out of the machine. This is osx tiger,and I can't figure out how to install the damn thing? does anybody have any advice? I run ubuntu, so I'm somewhat lost, but if you give me instructions I can probably fumble it out.

I might be wrong but the simplest answer would be to install a linux distro that supports Xfce. You will need PPC support but there used to be a fair amount of choice. Head over to distrowatch.com and see what's available.
