How can I change desktop icons?

hi,
I have Xfce (4.4.2 I believe), and I want to change (some of) the desktop icons. in my ~/.config/xfce/backdrops.list I changed the background, and I can add paths there for icons, but the latter has no effect. I don't know how I can change the icons (of the Trash can in this case). Any ideas?

Re: How can I change desktop icons?

~/.config/xfce/backdrops.list is to use a list of wallpapers, not for the desktop icons. To change your desktop icons, you need to change them in the icon theme you use.

Re: How can I change desktop icons?

I haven't tried installing a new theme, but it still not clear if it is possible to replace one or two icons. For a certain theme (I use Tango), there are a more than a few trash cans. I am not able to find out which name corresponds with the icon that is currently on my desktop.
Actually, I don't want to fuss about one or two icons, it's not that important. Who knows in future versions of Xfce, you can change individual icons more easy.
