Thunar: open files instead of execute

Hi,

I'd love to have Thunar open python files by default, instead of executing them.

Does anyone know how to do this, without removing the execute permission?

One method I thought of would be to set the mime type to plain text, but I don't know how to do this.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Thunar: open files instead of execute

I haven't used my XFCE machine for writing scripts yet, but as no one else has answered -

Right click on a Python file, select Properties, and set Open With to your preferred editor?

EDIT: I mis-read your question.
