I am trying to create a GTK theme using the xfce engine, but I can't seem to be able to find any documentation or tutorials on how to do it. I wonder if any of you know of a place to learn about this?

You can check out http://wiki.xfce.org/howto/xfwm4_theme - Also, it might be worth poking over what Oliver has already done (xfwm4-themes).

I'm talking about theming the GTK widgets, not the window manager.
As for now, I am just playing around with existing themes, but I don't know about any other functionality than what's already in the themes.

hah my bad, must have been late when I replied searching google is probably your best bet for finding info on gtk theme info, also live.gnome.org

Why I wrote is that I tried searching and haven't found anything useful. The best I found is this, witch describes general theming and the Smooth engine a little, but it's not an exhaustive list the full GTK functionality and any engine:

Hi there..
Talking in general, a little off topic, maybe, I think that is very strange that since today there's not a software developer who have thought to write a simple application to help a themer beginner to create gtk themes!
All we can do is edit 300 lines coded files (.gtkrc) manually, up and down, up and down.. up and down once again!!
I'm not a develper.. but if I were I would try to make an application like this..

Coincidentally, I am learning to program in C and Perl, and playing around with GTK, and I thought myself if it would be posible to make such a thing!
Anyway, I still can't do anything until I know anything about the Xfce engine, and find some decent documentation on GTK theming.

MKT excuse if I'm replying a lit bit late..
When I started to have interest on GTK themes and eventually theming on it, the best place I found (surely the more exhaustive) is at this link:
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/Tutorials/GtkThemes
All the themers I talked with, they all told me that place as the best the web have.. so if you want to google you can.. but I', not sure you'll find something better.. Or you can try ask on gnome-art channel at irc.gnome.com..
It would be great if you could develop an application like the one I dream!, even if all the best themers they all told me that editing a text file is the best way because you can control practically all of your theme.. doing it with a graphical application will maybe be impossible!!
(Excuse MKT now I'm very late and I must go, maybe we can go on later, it's a very interesting discussion, for me..)
See you soon, I hope!
