[SOLVED]panel plugins

I am new to Xfce switching over from KDE3 and not a fan of KDE4. I am running Mandriva 2009.1 with Xfce 4.6.1 if that makes any difference. Ive gotten the bulk of my desktop set up however I installed the quicklaunch plugin and when I went to add it it wasnt there. I did a Google search and found a few things to try but nothing worked. I even edited a plugin that I didnt use to match the quicklaunch in order to trick the system however on reboot even that one was gone from my option list. Is there something I am missing or not doing in order to get the quicklaunch to show up as an addable piece to my panel?

Re: [SOLVED]panel plugins

Hi

If I remember, the .desktop file of the quicklauncher plugin needs to be modified to work correctly with Xfce 4.6.x.

Make sure that the xfce4-quicklauncher-plugin is correctly installed, then edit /usr/share/xfce4/panel-plugins/quicklauncher.desktop (make a backup first) and replace the last line:

X-XFCE-Module=/usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins/libquicklauncher.so

by:

X-XFCE-Module=quicklauncher
X-XFCE-Module-Path=/usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins

Then, restart xfce4-panel with: ALT +F2 --> xfce4-panel --restart

Re: [SOLVED]panel plugins

That was one of the things I did. I went ahead and tried it again but still had no effect. All that show is Launcher, Action Buttons, Brightness plugin, Clock, etc. No Quicklauncher or Icon plugin (the one I had modified to try to trick xfce)  :-( :?

Re: [SOLVED]panel plugins

Great!

Anyway, the Mandriva package doesn't seems to provide the fix
If you have time, you could open a bug report:
http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/Development/Howto/Bugzilla
https://qa.mandriva.com

With the link to the git repository:
http://git.xfce.org/panel-plugins/xfce4 … er-plugin/
And maybe the link to the patch used by other distro like Debian:
http://patch-tracker.debian.org/patch/s … load.patch

Edit: Done: https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=54998
