Can't open files in thunar in root mode

My problem:
I run

gksu thunar

so Thunar appears with red warning label. But when I want open file (for example text file in mousepad) from  that window, nothing happens.
I'm on Ubuntu 9.10 KK. In some earlier version (I don't remember how     long ago) in described above situation I could open text file in musepad with admin privileges.
Is it bug or some security feature?

Re: Can't open files in thunar in root mode

Before you run gksu, run these following commands.  Then try to use mousepad etc.

export DISPLAY=":0.0"
xhost +
gksu Thunar
