Thunar 1.0.1 vs 1.1.0 - problems with 1.1.0

thunar 1.0.1 vs 1.1.0

I just compiled 1.1.0 by hand.  i did not "install" it yet, just running it
out of the thunar-1.1.0 directory to "test it out".   I currently have 1.0.1
  installed and it works great.

1.0.1 shows Trash, and it sees devices when i plug them in (mp3, usb stick, etc).
however 1.1.0 does not show any Trash, and devices don't show up.  so I'm seeing
  different behavior with the 1.1.0.

i'm on Arch linux running no desktop (I just run .xinitrc and gnome-settings-daemon).
i do see that gvfs is installed via the Pacman arch linux package manager.
i'm not sure what i should check (not too familiar with gio/gvfs)

  any help is appreciated !

P/S > I'm very impressed with Thunar, new user here,
and its so nice to not have to run nautilus!!!

I just got turned onto the xfce software, love Mousepad and trying out Orage.  great stuff.

You are probably missing some dependencies.

Have a detailed look at the ./configure run - either some file change notification library is missing
(libpam-dev / libfam-dev) or it is something to do with the hal development libraries.

The output will indirectly say that it assumes that you don't want to build with feature xyz.

Re: Thunar 1.0.1 vs 1.1.0 - problems with 1.1.0

1.1.0 is the GIO/gVFS rewrite.  Thunar-volman doesn't work with it yet, Jannis is working on that still.  There will be a few other things too, unless you need specific GIO/gVFS stuff, stick with 1.0.1 for now until 4.8 is released.  If you need gvfs stuff, checkout gigolo on the goodies site smile

No problem, thanks for the update.  You don't know how ** impressed ** I am with Thunar.
Been using linux for years, but just found out about Thunar and xfce.  Glad to see there are
alternatives to Gnome and KDE. (thank god !!!)

I will stick with 1.0.1.   Thunar = the best linux file manager.  Keep up the good
work guys.
