Hello, I'm using XFCE 4.6.1 as it comes with Xubuntu 9.10. No matter what the Compositor tab in Window Manager Tweaks or the values in Settings Editor reports, every time I restart I have less than full opacity when moving windows. In what locations might these settings be saved? I'm wondering if the Xubuntu distro is telling xfwm4 to start with a non-standard settings file and this file isn't the one being edited or read from when I use Window Manager Tweaks or Settings Editor.

afiak, they don't do anything with xfwm4. Are you logging out correctly (no ctrl+alt+del etc)? These settings are stored locally in an xml file for xfconf, probably ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfwm4.xml.

Hmmm... it must have been because I was restarting rather than logging out? It seems to be working now, but I'll play around a bit to see if I can recreate it.

As long as your clicking logout, restart or shutdown from the Xfce Dialog (xfce4-session-logout) the settings should be saved. If your issuing "reboot/shutdown/halt" from the terminal, that might explain it.
