Need info about pyXFCE

Hi

I've just started to build some little Python-Scripts with GTK Frontends.
Because of I'm running XFCE on my Notebook, I want to play a bit with building some plugins for the Panel and so on.
I've already found this post http://forum.xfce.org/index.php?topic=4755.0 and of course the pyxfce docs.
But please can somebody tell me what pyxfce exactly is for!?
I'm just a kid on Python GUI coding an haven't recognized yet where's the difference between pyxfce and pythons gtk-bindings...
