xfce startup slow

Hi, after I log in form gdm, xfce takes a while to loa. for a few seconds I just see gray the mouse busy icon, without any hd activity. I'm guessing some script waits for some process to finish... so how do I find out which process is blocking the startup?

Re: xfce startup slow

Ctrl+Alt+F2 and log in. top will tell you what processes are currently running. Alt+F9 or Alt+F7 to go back to X.

You might want to clear some caching/session saving directories. They tend to fill up disk space and slow things down.
