After upgrading from Ubuntu 8.04 to 10.04 I noticed I have some duplicate entries in the XFCE menu. I found that I can eliminate the duplicate entries for OpenOffice Calc, OpenOffice Impress and OpenOffice Writer by adding "NoDisplay=true" to the corresponding desktop configuration files in /usr/share/applications. Now there is only a single menu entry for each of those applications -- but what is generating those entries? There is only a single file for each of them in /usr/share/applications.
Also, I still have duplicate menu entries for Konqueror -- yet as far as I can see there is no file in /usr/share/applications relating to Konqueror, so where are those menu entries coming from? Actually I want to have 2 entries for Konqueror, but I would like each one to open it with a different view profile (Web Browsing and File Management). What should I edit, and how, to accomplish that?

Check whether you have .desktop files in ~/.local/share/applications.
