Updated to 4.8 and I've got NOTHING underneath the Application menu, everything is gone. Works fine adding a new user, but I really need it back ont his user. Deleting the .cache/sessions and resetting .config/xfce4 (copy from a fresh user) does not bring it back. So, how can I bring back all the applications?
EDIT: This seems to happen every time you try to edit the application menu. Bug?

I almost chose not to post a response given your pleasant disposition. However, in case others are having this problem, right click on the applications menu and select properties and then tell it to use a custom menu and point it to: /etc/xdg/menus/xfce-applications.menu

A bug was fixed in 4.8.1 of xfce-utils to make sure the installation path of the xfce config files is set, and there is also a problem with alacarte and garcon: see http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7169.
Else you can always clear ~/.config/menus

Thanks VW! I looked all over the forums for a fix for this and before finally finding your simple solution. Much appreciated!!

The root-cause of this problem was fixed in garcon-0.1.8 (bug #7169).
