System sounds

I have only used XFCE for a week (with Debian 6). It has so far been running without system sounds. I have downloaded the "Fresh and Clean" set of sounds but cannot figure out how to make them work.

Re: System sounds

Hi. Under Settings Manager > Appearance > Settings (tab) at the bottom you'll see a check box you can tick for "Enable event sounds". You might have to reboot but see if that enables your sound scheme or the default one.

Re: System sounds

Where did you download this?  All I have on my laptop are the Default sounds that come with my distro and Gnome, and I'd like to be able to have some variety.

Re: System sounds

I'm sorry to say, phrac, that I still have no sound.

Sideburns, these are XFCE sounds.

Re: System sounds

Yes, Payasam, I know that; I want to know where they are so I can download them.

Thank you; I'm new to XFCE and didn't know about that site.

Hi payasam. Sorry to hear that. the suggestion I gave you used to do the trick when I was running Xubuntu which of course is Debian based so I hoped it might help. Unfortunately I'm running Arch rather than Debian 6 so I'm not entirely familiar with your OS.

Rather than give up on it, I'd suggest having a look at the thread here on the Debian forum to see if you can follow the advice there and get the moblin theme working and then maybe your own. It could be worth posting on the Deb forum too (if you haven't already) if your still having trouble.
