Problem with Xscreensaver (running transparently) with compositing.

Hi everyone
Sorry to jump right in with a question as my first post but I'm a little stuck using xscreensaver. I recently installed xfce on an Arch 2.6.37 x86_64 system which is working great with compositing etc. I then installed xscreensaver but it runs transparently unless compositing is disabled?? I've tested disabling the xfce compositing and running xcompmgr and the problem comes back.

If anyone could let me know of any xfce / xfwm settings I am missing to enable xscreensaver to run with 100% opacity I'd really appreciate it
