Brightness plugin V1.0.10

Hi All;

Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this?
the supplied docs for the package are still for version 0.83 and are using HAL.

XFCE 4.8 doesn't use HAL anymore so how does one trouble shoot this issue?
i'd like to get that brightness button working again.
