[Solved] Force application to a desktop?

Hello there,

KDE has the "special applications" menu that allows you to
control many things ... for example, it is possible to enforce
the desktop aka workspace; so my mail application will
always end up on my "mail" workspace; no matter "where"
I started it.

Is there a way to do that with xfce?

Hello,

This is not integrated into Xfce, but you can use external tools to achieve this. This thread has an exemple with wmctrl: http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=5439

You can also use Devil's Pie: http://burtonini.com/blog/computers/devilspie/. This daemon will detect launched applications and apply any given rule to them, it's pretty handy once you configured it.

Cheers,

Jérôme
