xfrun not available

Running xfce on a newly installed Mageia Beta 2 system.  I previously did some damage to the graphics control settings.  The only remaining issue seems to be the command runner, xfrun4.  I can run it from the menu, but trying to start it with Alt+F2 only gives me ";3Q" in a Terminal (whether the Terminal has the focus or not.)  This is happening only with Xfce (naturally) and only in this user account.  KDE or a different user are O.K.  The Alt+F2 key binding already exists, but there must be a wrong config somewhere.  Any ideas please?

Doug.
