Mounting Removable Drives and Removable Media on Remote Systems

I've been in the habit of using Thunar to mount removable drives and media on remote systems, performing backups to them, and then unmounting them.

For some reason this stopped working at some point after I moved from Xfce 4.6.2 to 4.8.0 on my Debian Wheezy systems.

I reported a bug on the matter but haven't seen any activity on the bug. (https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7575)

I realize that there are options other than Thunar / Thunr-Volman I might use, but just wondered if anyone else had noticed this (or can confirm it).
