activating thunar tar plugins

I read where Thunar has a plugin for extracting and zipping to tar - I see that xubuntu loaded the plugins - I'm using xfce session and can't figure out how to activate the plugins - any ideas ?

You need to install the thunar-archive-plugin however this requires an archive manager as well. Another option is to create a custom action that runs "tar -xf %f" and matches "*.tar.gz;*.tar.bz2".
