Is it possible to totally disable smart placement?
I would really like for my apps to be in the same position they were in after they are closed clean.
I have smart placement set at 100 and the only option is Center of the screen or Mouse Pointer
I would think there could/would/should be a None option or way to have apps return to where they were last closed at.
Thank you...

Not something for the window manager to do, but for the application itself. Not really going to work as well, think of multiple terminal/editor windows.

I appreciate that Nick, but the window manager is the source of the problem.. If there is not an option to disable smart placement, then every window will always be at most centered by placing the setting at Large. This by default then disables any application that has a return to last position save setting..

No, apps can always override this.
I agree, but it is not happening... Everything always opens dead center, never in the place that it was before...
I am going to login to openbox and try the same things there... Will let you know..
Thank you...

Because most applications don't save their positing.

Sorry to zombify an old post, but I thought this might help others hitting this page as I did.
It can be done now, through
Settings Manager -> Settings Editor -> xfwm4
uncheck "tile_on_move"
