I'm using Xfce version 4.6.2 with Debian Squeeze, I installed it from Debian's repository.
I'd like to see only the windows from the workspace I'm using at the moment and not see all windows from each workspace in the panel all the time.
How can one set this behaviour?

Sorry, I have only 4.8. hoping that is the same on 4.6 :
On the panel, right-click next to a windows caption. Then go to "Properties". In the "Windows buttons" window, in "Filtering" un-check "Show windows from all workspaces or viewports"
Xfce is NOT Xubuntu. Bugs in Xubuntu don't mean that Xfce is buggy ...

Thanks Dude, that was it.
In 4.6.2 its the same way to the properties, but it is called "Task List" and "Show tasks from all workspaces". Strange that this setting is only available in this property setting and not in the Xfce4 Settings Manager at all.
