When I delete files in Thunar, they do not go to trash. Indeed, no files have ever successfully made it into my trash; it is just permanently empty. Is there a fix for this please?
I'm running Linux Mint LMDE, upgraded to the Debian Testing repo. Thanks :-)

I'd love to know how you did that, because I have no use for the Trash, and prefer to disable it whenever possible. If I'm not sure if I want to get rid of a file, I can always rename it until I'm ready to delete it, but IMAO, gone is gone!

Well, I have discovered that my Trash does work, but only sometimes. And the reason appears to be becos I have more than one Trash folder...
My home folder is located on the root partition. And with most files, when I delete them, they get moved into ~/.local/share/Trash. But my ~/Downloads and ~/Documents folders have been bind-mounted onto folders located on a much bigger partition, by my fstab. Such that when I delete files from within those folders, they get moved into the ~/Downloads/.Trash-1000 and ~/Documents/.Trash-1000 folders instead.
So Thunar and its backend seem quite happy to shift deleted files into any one of several trash folders. But as for the Trash icon, with its 'Empty Trash' and Restore functionality, that will only work for deleted files that have been shifted into the ~/.local/share/Trash. Such that if I ever delete a file from within my ~/Downloads and ~/Documents folders, then the Trash icon will still appear empty. And becos the */.Trash-1000 folders never get emptied, large megabytes of files have built up in there.
So before I begin to soft-link various folders together etc, I have to ask. Is this a known problem, and can it be fixed easily plz?
Thank you.
