panel item Directory Menu does not show files

I'm new to xfce so bare with me.

It only lists folders and gives you the option to open the location in your file manager or a terminal.  I was just wondering if there was an option to have it show files.

Also, one other thing, I find it difficult to get to the panel properties -- you have to get your mouse on that one pixel edge on the panel to not be over an icon. No big deal but I was wondering if there was an easier way.

Thanks.

Right click the plugin and open the properties. You will be able to set a "mask" to match files like "*.c" for example.
