Theme's directory icons not used in Thunar

I installed XFCE 4.8, but have problems with the directory icon themes in Thunar. I'm using a home-made theme, that worked well in earlier versions of Thunar. In the new version, it uses the proper icons, except for the directories, which revert to the default Gnome icon theme. This is the case for all normal directory icons (desktop and home show up properly), in all sizes.

The icon theme works fine in Nautilus and PCManFM. Why is Thunar not recognising them? What file is it looking for?

I'm running Thunar 1.2.2 on Debian Testing.

this happen me too but I try to found is problem for my distro and
ArchLinux, OpenSuse thumbleweed, Debian Testing

this happen to w the tango-icon-theme

I notice that other icons like Faneza,Faience,awoken not suffer of this issue
my experimment make me se the nex solution:
make more icons-related to desktop to fit the entire dependand of the "fallback" icons

in other wordsthe gnome icons change a little the structure forcing the use of those icons
is need make an icons that fit al possible folders options (like the named faenza)

PD: sorri bad english, if not underestand i try to improbe the explication

Thank you for the reply. Other icon themes work too, as you mentioned, but I'm trying to get the icon theme I created to work (and a few other ones that don't use the proper directory icons too). Like you, I thought it might be a change in gnome's icon theme specifications (they have changed before and messed up my icon theme), but I can't find any details on what icon it should use.

Does anyone know what icon it is looking for for directory icons (what directory and filename)?

try to compare the gnome/(pixelsize)/places w you equivalent
you se that you not have ertains icons like folder-download or/and folder_download for exaample
or compare w other icon pack that work

try to supplied tose icons in you icons in the requiered sizes
