Thunar not starting

Hi,

When I run Thunar from the shell, it outputs nothing, and the window fails to appear.  If I run it as root, it starts OK.  It was running fine yesterday, and I haven't changed any settings.

I have looked at the man pages, but don't see any mention of verbose mode.  Syslog doesn't show anything when I try to start thunar.

I have re-started my XFCE session too.  I cannot consider restarting the box, as I am shooting for my all time uptime record.

Ideas?
