hide unmounted harddrives from desktop

hi

i'm using LMDE XFCE.
when the system starts, all my harddrives are shown on my desktop, although they are not mounted.
can  i hide them, until i mount them ?
the same with my USB flash drive: when i unmount it, it still is on the desktop.

and while we're at it:
i'd like to have all the drives (even unmounted ones) in the places section in mintmenu. how do i get them in there ?
is it possible to have usb flash drives appear in mintmenu when i put them in the usb-port ?

Re: hide unmounted harddrives from desktop

I see this all the time in thunar too. I can see drives that aren't mounted. That doesn't particularly bother me as it provides the ability to easily mount them if I wanted too. However, it doesn't always show drives that ARE mounted. Sometimes it does but usually it doesn't. Weird.

Right click on the desktop-> Desktop Properties-> go to the third tab "Symbols", there you can set to hide all, or just hide what you want to hide. The words could be different, I am not a native English speaker.
